Dr Sarah-Jane Knight, Psych.D

I have a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, trained to work using CBT, systemic and psychodynamic approaches. In addition I have training in group psychoanalytic psychotherapy, attachment-focussed therapies and approaches used in treating trauma.

Working in outpatient and inpatient services in the NHS and with private providers, I have experience with a wide range of client groups. I have set up and run a psychology service abroad, working within a different cultural context and specifically with expatriates and their families.

As well as running my own practice in Surrey, I work in a specialist practice for adopted and ‘looked after’ children and adolescents with complex problems. In addition to providing therapy using a range of approaches, I am required to undertake assessments, manage risk, liaise with various services and support young peoples' families.

Therapy is a collaborative process in which we work together to develop an understanding of the factors that have contributed towards how you are feeling now.

Your difficulties might be transient in response to specific life issues or long standing problems tracing back to early life.  As a Clinical Psychologist, I am trained to work with people of all ages and with difficulties ranging from mild through to severe and enduring mental health issues.

I believe people have resources within them - often that they don't know they have.  Part of the therapeutic process is to be able to discover these through the safety and support of the therapeutic relationship.

As I believe that it is important for you to find the right 'fit', please call for a free, no obligations chat with me.

Skype Therapy...

Attending weekly sessions can be a logistical challenge.  I have experience of providing a 'remote' psychology service.  This has taken the form of Skype and telephone therapy. This service can be beneficial for people working long hours; companies wanting to provide support to staff; or those who travel frequently.  I have successfully provided long-term therapeutic support using online  resources for clients in a different location to my practice.

For Adolescents...

All adults were teenagers once. However, we can lose touch with how extraordinary this period of development is.  My young clients have reminded me  of this - and have also demonstrated their amazing capacity for insight into themselves and their lived experience.  My approach is open and non-judgemental, helping young people to feel heard and supported.
